Lunar 2: EB set for Japanese PSX release

[02.18.99] » GameArts' highly praised Lunar 2: Eternal Blue is slated for a May 27 Japanese PSX release. Could a US port follow?

News has leaked out over in Japan that Game Arts' remake of Lunar 2: Eternal Blue is set to be released on May 27 for the Sony PlayStation. The anime-heavy RPG will sell for 6800 yen (about $57 U.S.), and is spread out over 3 CDs. Lunar 2: Eternal Blue was originally released for the Mega CD (Sega CD) system as a sequel to Lunar: The Silver Star, and was later translated as the final U.S. Sega CD title. Both Lunar titles were then later remade for the Sega Saturn in Japan.

While Working Designs is already close to releasing a U.S. PSX version of Lunar : Silver Star Story (current estimates place the release date around late March / early April), there's still no official word on whether or not English-speaking RPG fans will see a PlayStation port of the Lunar sequel. Still, a U.S. port is a near given; Working Designs has already expressed a strong interest in localization.

1999 is definitely shaping up to be a prolific year for RPGs...
