Final Fantasy VIII US release date?

[02.16.99] » A confirmation from Bandai regarding a line of Final Fantasy VIII action figures may have revealed Square's secretive US release date.

   Just yesterday, we mentioned that Bandai has made plans to introduce a line of Final Fantasy VIII action figures in Japan, similar to their line of FF VII toys released earlier. Since then, videogames.com has learned from a Bandai representative that the company does indeed plan to market the line in both Asian and North American markets.

   According to the representative, the toys will be released approximately one month prior to the North American release of Final Fantasy VIII. And the date of the toys' release? August. Should the report hold true, this would mean Square's RPG is scheduled for a September release.

   Square EA remains tight-lipped on the matter, listing only a "Late 1999" release date on their webpage.
