Final Fantasy Movie production details

[02.05.99] » A local Honolulu newspaper reports on intriguing production details inside Square USA's Hawaii studio.

With the Final Fantasy Movie actively in production in Square USA's $10 million dollar studio, a local Honolulu newspaper has published a feature revealing countless production details. Cameras designed to capture human motion and translate the data into computer-based movements, Silicon Graphics Octane workstations, and more specialized equipment are all being used to deliver a movie with "photo-realistic" computer generated characters. Final Fantasy Movie's producer, Hironobu Sakaguchi, also reveals in an interview that approximately a month is needed to produce just 3-5 minutes of footage.

GIA has known about this article for several weeks; in fact, large paragraphs from the article were written by our very own Andrew Vestal, in a feature for videogames.com. Unfortunately, Andrew was not contacted by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin's author.
