Square set for sequel announcement?

   The latest issue of Weekly Jump (presumably V-Jump) in Japan states that Square of Japan is preparing to announce a sequel to one of their past titles. While many fans were disappointed when a sequel announcement last year contributed a sequel to Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon series, the Japanese publication is asserting the announcement will "rock the industry."

   But what series would a sequel have to belong to in order to "rock the industry?" Several possibilities are Final Fantasy IX (heavily rumored to have begun development long ago), Final Fantasy Tactics 2, Xenogears 2, Chrono Trigger 2 (long rumored to be in the works) or Seiken Densetsu 4. On the other hand, the article also states that several sources have dropped hints that the new title could be for Sega's Dreamcast. Square has previously denied any plans for development on the Dreamcast, and such a reversal with one of the industry's largest publishers would be rocking news indeed.
