Sakaguchi speaks out on Final Fantasy
[12.17.98] » MSNBC interviews Square's top designer, focusing on the upcoming Final Fantasy Movie.
| "Charles" -- not Sakaguchi! |
Steven Kent of MSNBC has had the fortuitous chance to speak with Square USA's Hironobu Sakaguchi in a recent feature for the online news site. Sakaguchi is president of Square's Honolulu studios, and chiefly responsible for many of Square's most memorable games.
In the interview, Sakaguchi talks primarily about the Final Fantasy Movie due out in 2001. The movie's graphics are so detailed that approximately fifty-thousand polygons compose the face of an old man known as "Charles." He also reveals that voice actors should be decided upon within three or four months, later gushing about Meg Ryan as an ideal voice actress for the film. Sakaguchi also reiterates Al Rhiner's (of Apollo 13 fame) role in writing the movie's script.
Amusingly, Sakaguchi also replied that his favorite Final Fantasy of all time is Final Fantasy V. Head on over through this link for the full interview.
