The Working Designs Mystery RPG is...

[12.15.98] » ...to be unveiled shortly. Hey, don't throw those tomatoes at us!

RPG pseudo-developer/publisher Working Designs has long maintained an unnamed, Mystery RPG listed in the upcoming games schedule located on their homepage. Slated for the Sony PlayStation, the title holds a "December" (no year given) release date. What could it be?

Speculation has been rampant on the Internet's discussion areas for months, often aided by hints and flat-out denials by Working Designs chief Victor Ireland. For instance, the game will not be Grandia or Slayers Royal 2, but will please fans of Dragon Force. Also curious is the spelling of "RpG" on Working Design's homepage -- note the lowercase "p."

Working Designs has said in the past that they would reveal the Mystery RPG at the launch of Magic Knight Rayearth. With Magic Knight Rayearth now out in most speciality stores, Ireland yesterday announced that Working Designs will "be announcing [the mystery RPG] very soon." The chances of the game arriving this December are extremely slim, leaving the release date open to a possible December 1999 timeslot.

What's our trendy guess? The GIA is betting on the title being from the Langrisser series -- the 1/2 collection, 4, or 5.
