Lufia III demo music released
[12.15.98] » The project is still on hold, but an absolutely stunning demo arrangement is released by one of the game's musical gurus.
After being taunted with storyline details behind the next chapter in the Lufian saga, fans were crushed to discover that Lufia III's publisher had gone bankrupt, and the developer itself was in a financial situation dire enough to halt all production on the game. While the news on Lufia III's progress remains the same, a new item has emerged to tease gamers all the more.
One of the game's musical composers, Yukio Nakajima, has contacted a Lufia / Estpolis fan site, generously donating an MP3 recording presumably indicative of the musical style and skill expected in Lufia III. (The original musical composer of Lufia I and II, Yasunori Shiono, has not yet been confirmed to return for the third project.) The tune was played at the Tokyo Game Show in March of last year when Lufia III was originally unveiled. The song is simply spectacular -- a mix of fast-paced electronica meets a traditional Lufian style (recognizable especially towards the end).
The site contacted, Forfeit Island, has posted the song as an exclusive. Click on the "LIII MP3" icon in the site's left menu bar for a chance to hear this beauty. Additionally, we spoke with Natsume (Lufia III's North American publisher) a few days ago concerning the third chapter's future. While unable to reveal anything at the moment, Natsume remains cautiously optimistic and hopes to have an official word around January. A Q4 1999 release date is still maintained on the company's homepage. Let's hope!
