Legend of Legaia shows off

[12.12.98] » Yup, Sony is bringing their latest RPG to North America, and we've got the movie to prove it.

It's official -- Sony Computer Entertainment America will be translating Legend of Legaia to North America. Released in Japan a few short months ago, Sony's RPG has gathered a strong following of fans despite only selling just over 320,000 units to date. Developed in-house by Contrail (responsible for Wild Arms, among others), Legend of Legaia sports a unique battle engine resembling a polygonal fighting game, heartwarming, lively characters, and a lush 3D graphical presentation.

The splendid confirmation comes from the January issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, which is licensed by the game's publisher, SCEA. Included on the accompanying demo disc is a preview movie of Legend of Legaia which is sure to whet any RPG enthusiast's appetite. We've included it down below while complete coverage is put together -- look for it in a couple days. A release date for the game was not mentioned, but our sources tell us we could be seeing it in stores as early as March.

Thanks to Eric Kolb for assistance with the movie.
