Zelda marks a million

[12.08.98] » The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time sells over a million copies in its first two weeks of a North American release.

According to the folks down at IGN64, Nintendo's smash-hit The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time has pushed past the one million mark in only two short weeks of sales, making the game the company's most purchased Nintendo 64 game in history. According to our local Electronics Boutique, copies are still selling out almost as soon as shipment arrives, meaning Zelda still stands to potentially sell far more.

Over in Japan, despite a weak Nintendo 64 market share, the title has sold remarkably well compared to North American sales. Estimates for the past two weeks ending December 5th place figures at well over 600,000 copies sold. The remaining international market hasn't yet been graced with the game -- Australia, the UK, and the Netherlands are set for a December 18th release, while other countries have varied dates around mid-December.

We'll keep you up to date on this hot seller as the weeks go by.
