If you hadn't pre-purchased Nintendo's Zelda : Ocarina of Time before the game's launch last Monday, chances are you're having a hard time getting your hands on a copy. Practically fit for legends, tales of finally discovering the game after searching malls, stores, retail outlets and more for hours have been heard (and told!) by our staff. There are even those who still haven't received their copy after pre-purchasing it, being assured that enough would be available on the launch date. Is it time to lose all hope?

Most certainly not, says Nintendo. The company has announced that starting today, stores should see another major shipment of Zelda 64 arriving to pacify the masses. When we spoke with our local Electronics Boutique last week, the manager didn't believe another shipment would come until shortly before Christmas. Nintendo is obviously stepping up production to meet with the massive demand for the game.

"Whatever shortages do exist should be of very short duration," assuages Peter Main, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo. "We're moving product into stores just as fast as we can produce it. And we remain on track to ship two and a half million copies of Zelda to stores by Christmas Eve, and the game remains on track to become the fastest-seller in U.S. history."

Zelda 64 has already tripled the record for being the most heavily pre-ordered game in history, with well over 500,000 copies. We brought you your comments on the title a couple days ago, and we'll have a super-spiffy GIA review coming your way soon.
