Konami considers BeMani titles for U.S. release

[12.05.99] » Beatmania, Dance Dance Revolution, and Guitar Freaks potential titles

In recent correspondence with Konami, a Konami representative ended his letter with the following postscript: "If you know people that want to buy Konami Bemani Music games such as Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, or Dance Dance Revolution, please have them write us, e-mail us or call. We want these games to be smash hits next year."

All three titles have been critical and commercial smash hits in Japan, and having them reach the states would be a major victory for fans of unique and quirky titles. All three are music-simulation games, and each has a unique controller to go with it. Beatmania uses a special pad with five keyboard buttons and a "turntable," Dance Dance Revolution uses a floor-mat pad on which the player dances, and Guitar Freaks uses a special "guitar" controller with strings, frets, and effects. All three titles are tons of fun, and while they appeal to the die-hard rhythm action fan, they're also great "party" games that casual gamers can really enjoy.

In other words, these games definitely deserve to come to the U.S. So write, e-mail, or call Konami today! And tell 'em the GIA sent ya.
