Metal Gear: Ghost Babel character details

[11.20.99] » All-new rogues gallery and team of allies.

Descriptions of characters in Metal Gear: Ghost Babel have come out. Here's the breakdown:

  • Solid Snake: Obviously. Interestingly, though he faked his death at the end of Metal Gear Solid, he is described only as "discharged 3 years ago." Either the whole story wasn't revealed in MGS's ending, or FoxHound wasn't as fooled by his ruse as Snake thought they'd be. In any event, he's been called back to deal with the new situation.
  • Chris Jenna: Last surviving member of the Delta Force team that was originally sent to infiltrate the fortress. Like Meryl Silverburgh in Metal Gear Solid and Jennifer in the original Metal Gear, she will be Snake's female support throughout the game.
  • Sophie: Little is known about this character, including her allegiances, but she can be seen in the already-posted screen shots as the woman with bluish-white hair holding a gun.
  • Pyro Bison: This is the guy in the screen shots that looks similar to Vulcan Raven. This time, though, the giant tank on his back is a fuel drum instead of an ammo drum, for the flamethrower that he wields. The discolorations on his skin are burns, not tattoos; apparently he is irresistibly attracted to flame.
  • Slasher Hawk: An Australian aborigine that attacks with a large boomerang. No other information or screens have been released as yet.
  • Marionette Owl: One of the oddest villains yet, he prefers to attack silently in total darkness, befitting the Owl part of his name. The strange part is that he is never seen without puppets--he may use them as weapons, but we imagine that it would be hard to tell in the dark.
  • Black Arts Vai: He leads Black Chamber, the group of four who presumably have taken over the base and are out to stop Snake at all costs. His left arm is artificial, and has visible machinery as well as explosives attached to it. What exactly this machinery does is anyone's guess, but it likely will be a vital bit of the plot.

A few more details have emerged on the VR missions as well. Like the PlayStation predecessor Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, Ghost Babel will feature several varieties of training missions. Some will be simple stages designed to teach gameplay mechanics, while others will be more puzzle-oriented or require you to solve them in a certain amount of time.
