The return of Tengai Makyo?
[11.16.99] » Red may be planning on resurrecting its bizarre RPG series.
According to IGNDC, a fifth installment of Hudson and Red Company's Tengai Makyo series may be on the way. Hiroi Ouji, the producer for the series, recently commented that if the company didn't have its hands full with the Sakura Taisen franchise, it would likely be working on a new Tengai Makyo game -- and that after the upcoming Sakura Taisen games are released, Tengai Makyo 5 is likely to be Red's next project. Ouji explained that the team was "stunned" by Sega's revival of Phantasy Star and is now eager to do the same for Tengai Makyo.
Previously seen on the Turbo Duo and Saturn, the Tengai Makyo series has never seen the light of day in North America, thanks in large part to its oddball setting -- the first three games took place in a warped version of Japan, while Tengai Makyo: The Fourth Apocalypse was set in an even more bizarre cariacture of the United States.
