More on Zelda GBC trilogy
[11.13.99] » Themes of the second and third chapters revealed.
Zelda fans should already be familiar with the theme of Zelda: Acorn of the Mystical Tree, the first in a trilogy of Game Boy Color Zelda games based on the three parts of the Triforce. In that game, the Chapter of Power, Link uses the Rod of Seasons to shift through the seasons, a four-plane variant of the Light and Dark Worlds of Zelda 3. As Acorn of the Mystical Tree represents "Power," an emphasis on fighting will be seen throughout the game.
Nintendo has now revealed the themes of the second and third games in the trilogy. The currently-untitled second game, the Chapter of Wisdom, will be centered around colors, and most of the game's events will be centered around one color or another -- players familiar with the bonus dungeon of Zelda DX should have some idea of what to expect here. The Chapter of Wisdom, of course, will feature a heavy puzzle slant.
The final game in the trilogy is the Chapter of Courage. This game promises an "emotional" challenge, which means that Link will spend more time interacting with other characters. The puzzles in the game will be centered around "time." As in Zelda 64, the world will cycle through morning, noon, evening, and night periods, and some puzzles can only be solved at certain times of the day.
Acorn of the Mysterious Tree is due out in Japan in February 2000, with the Chapters of Wisdom and Courage to follow in April and June, respectively. No North American release has been announced for the trilogy.
