Soul Reaver to be enhanced for Dreamcast
[11.12.99] » Higher graphical capabilities of Sega's system put to use in the conversion.
Eidos showed off the Dreamcast port to Soul Reaver recently, and announced a list of enhanced features the DC version has to offer. While there will be no restoration of the removed scenes or abilities, the Dreamcast conversion will feature a number of graphical improvements, including:
- A framerate of 60 fps throughout most of the game, instead of the PlayStation's 25 fps.
- Higher texture resolutions for both the characters and the backgrounds.
- New effects designed to showcase the Dreamcast's capabilities, as well as reworking existing effects to take advantage of the Dreamcast's power.
- The intro movie shown at 30 fps instead of the original's 15 fps.
While it may technically be the same game that thousands of PlayStation owners have already played, the new work done ensures that anyone who's missed out on the title thus far will definitely want to wait for the Dreamcast version.
