Pokémon Stadium to include Transfer Pak

[10.28.99] » The 64GB Pak comes to the U.S. as part of Pokémon Stadium.

One of the key features of Pokémon Stadium is the ability to transfer your saved data from a Game Boy Pokémon game into the 3D arenas of the Nintendo 64 title. Such an operation requires the aid of the Transfer Pak (known as the 64GB Pak in Japan), which enables Game Boy cartridges to be plugged into a Nintendo 64 controller.

Pokéfans can rest assured that they'll always have such a feature at their fingertips. Nintendo recently confirmed that the Transfer Pak will be included in all North American copies of Pokémon Stadium -- actually Pokémon Stadium 2; the original Pokémon Stadium was not translated -- when the title ships next March. Another key Nintendo title, Rare's Perfect Dark, also uses the Transfer Pak, but will not include the peripheral.

Additionally, Pokémon Yellow can now be played through the Transfer Pak. The original, Japanese edition of Pokémon Stadium 2 allowed N64 gamers to play the original Pokémon game if the appropriate cartridge was plugged into the Transfer Pak, but only the "basic" Pokémon flavors (Red, Blue, and Green) were supported. The North American version will allow players to access this feature with both the original colors and the upgraded Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition -- the latter requires the Pokémon Yellow cartridge to be plugged into the Transfer Pak, of course.
