Final Fantasy IX delayed?
[10.26.99] » FF IX may miss this fiscal year, but Square's PlayStation 2 titles won't.
According to Chinese news site GodMars Sky, Final Fantasy IX may have slipped off its ambitious schedule. Numerous reports originally postulated a release this spring, before the end of the financial year; such a timeframe seemingly necessary if Square was to meet its revenue goal for fiscal year 1999. The latest word, however, suggests that development hang-ups have postponed Final Fantasy IX until fiscal year 2000 -- a story right in line with the recent delay of Square's FF IX-unveiling press conference.
On a more positive note, Square plans to have two PlayStation 2 titles ready to accompany the system in its Japanese launch next March. (One of these titles is likely The Bouncer, a previously-announced fighting game). Two more PSX2 titles, for a total of four PSX2 releases, will follow between March and May.
