Pokémon: The Second Movie?

   Pokémon: The First Movie isn't even in theaters yet, but anticipation of its success has brought the movie's sequel into the wings as well. According to the New York Daily News, Time Warner Inc. has approved a second movie Pokémon movie for North American release sometime in 2000; the second movie is already in release in Japan. Such a revelation is hardly an unusual step for the lucrative franchise: Pokémon: The First Movie brought in about $53 million US in Japan in 1998, making it the fourth-highest grossing film there that year, and a profitable box office take is expected on this side of the Pacific as well.
