Sakura Taisen 3 announced
[10.18.99] » Red and Sega reveal their latest strategy
RPG collaboration, plus ports of previous Sakura Taisen games.
At today's Sakura Project 2000 press conference,
Sega and Red announced a number of new Sakura Taisen games. Foremost
among the new titles is Sakura Taisen 3, the first Dreamcast installment
of the strategy RPG / dating series. In this episode, hero Oogami is
sent to faraway Paris to battle a new evil and date five new heroines.
Though it isn't due out in Japan until fall 2000, expect screenshots of this
new game soon.
Red is also bringing the original two Saturn games
(Sakura Taisen and Sakura Taisen
2) to the Dreamcast. Graphical enhancements and VMU support has been
added to the ports, but they otherwise remain identical to their Saturn counterparts. Sakura
Taisen is due out in the spring of 2000 and will feature two GD-ROM
discs; its sequel spans three discs and will ship in the summer.
Finally, the first shots of the previously-announced
Game Boy Color Sakura Taisen title, developed by Media Factory, were shown.
This GBC game will somehow interact with Sakura Taisen 3; you'll most likely acquire
various passwords for your accomplishments in the GBC game and then
enter those passwords into the DC version. Sakura Taisen GBC will ship
in Japan in the spring of 2000, around the same time the Sakura Taisen 1
DC port is released.
