Chrono Cross to feature over forty playable characters

   In recent days, information on new Chrono Cross characters has been popping up almost without stop. But even with the large number of recently revealed characters, it appears that Square has even more playable party members up their sleeve. Over forty, to be exact. How Square plans to let gamers manage (and micromanage) such a large cast remains to be seen. Certainly this promises a drastically different storyline and scope than the original Chrono Trigger.

   Moreover, with this many party members, many gamers are concered about character development. Will Chrono Cross feature a cast of three dozen faceless wonders and four characters you care about, a la Suikoden? Or will Square somehow balance this large cast with a personal touch? Though there are many ways one can distinguish a character -- appearance, speech patterns, personality traits, and so forth -- with a cast of forty, creativity and uniqueness is a definite issue.
