Resident Evil: Code Veronica delayed
[10.04.99] » A Dreamcast port of Resident Evil 2 takes the place of Code Veronica in Capcom's late 1999 line-up.
Long rumored, a delay for Capcom's Sega-developed Resident Evil: Code Veronica is now official. The first fully 3-D title in the Resident Evil series won't arrive until 2000; the title was originally scheduled for Japanese and North American release this December.
Never one to let the Resident Evil franchise go unexploited, however, Capcom is now preparing a Dreamcast port of Resident Evil 2. The fifth release of Resident Evil 2 to date, RE2 DC will feature the higher-resolution graphics of the PC version, as well as the Extreme Battle mode of the PlayStation Dual Shock re-release. In the Extreme Battle mode, players can select from four different characters (Leon and Claire, plus Chris Redfield and Ada Wong) and fight through a sequence of recycled screens, but with randomized items placements. Sadly, the two hidden characters of the original PlayStation version, Hunk and Tofu, will not make it into the Dreamcast edition. However, RE2 DC does contain a new bonus: a playable demo of Code Veronica itself.
