Many more Shen Mues on the way?

   Shen Mue's first chapter, Chapter 1: Yokosuka, isn't far off; the first edition of Yu Suzuki's "Gift to the Children of the 21st Century" is scheduled to arrive in Japan on October 21st. The second episode in the continuing story, Chapter 2: Mainland China, is scheduled to follow in 2000, but apparently that's far from the end of the saga -- gaming news site Magic Box recently reported that a three other episodes, Chapters 3 - 5, are in the works as well, and that the future of the series will be officially announced after Chapter 1 hits stores.

   The new episodes are hardly a surprise -- Shen Mue's creator Yu Suzuki has stated that he's envisioned twenty Shen Mue episodes, with even more possibly following if those are successful. Perhaps the series will continue long enough to bless the children the 22nd century as well.
