U.S. publishers sign on for PlayStation 2
[09.14.99] » Working Designs, Atlus, and other companies hop on Sony's PlayStation 2 bandwagon.
Following an existing list of Japanese developers, Sony today released the full list of North American and European companies supporting the PlayStation 2. All the major names
are on the list, of course: Capcom, Konami, Square EA, Activision,
Namco and others. A number of smaller companies have also signed on,
including prominent localizers Working Designs and Crave. And despite its rocky relations with SCEA's approval department, Atlus is on board
too.
The most peculiar addition to the list, however,
is Enix. The famed RPG developer and publisher hasn't maintained a U.S. presence since the 16-bit era, though Sony and Eidos have both published some of its games. Its mysterious appearence on the list of North American PlayStation 2 could be just a misprint -- or it could mean the
company is planning to become a localizing power once again.
