Final Fantasy VIII sells 175,000 in first week

   Sales figures in from last week show that Square's Final Fantasy VIII has managed to sell around 175,000 copies since its release on September 8th. While not enough to top the 300,000 Dreamcast units sold over the same period, it's still an impressive figure. It's still questionable whether or not Final Fantasy VIII will be able to catch VII, however -- the original sold around a million copies in North America, and negative magazine reviews and competition from other big-name games may keep FF VIII from passing that mark.
