Digicube to release Final Fantasy VIII Desktop Accessories

   Still haven't had your fill of Final Fantasy VIII merchandise? Square's subsidiary Digicube recently announced yet another spin-off: Final Fantasy VIII Desktop Accessories, a Windows CD-ROM filled with Final Fantasy VIII desktop themes, icons, wallpaper, screen savers, and sounds.

   Perhaps more of interest, Final Fantasy VIII Desktop Accessories includes a complete PC version of card game from FF VIII itself. The always addictive game is now playable over a LAN -- sadly, no Internet support seems to be included. However, Desktop Accessories does include another program titled Final Fantasy VIII Mail, which enables fans to attach FF VIII letterheads and "stamps" to their e-mail.

   Desktop Accessories is due to be released in Japan on September 22 for 4980 yen ($45 US). It's possible, albeit rather unlikely, that the disc will find its way to North America, either as a stand-alone product or with the PC version of Final Fantasy VIII.
