More on Dragon Warrior IV cancellation
[03.07.02] » Cause of death: Heart failure.
While Enix may be citing slow PlayStation sales
as the reason behind the cancellation of the U.S. release of PSone
remake of Dragon Warrior IV, the latest issue of the Official PlayStation
Magazine sheds further light on the subject. Heartbeat, the developer
behind Dragon Warrior VII and the remake of Dragon Warrior IV, which
reused DWVII's engine, recently withdrew from all software development,
taking with it any chance for a US localization for the remake.
While many gamers assume the English localizations
are handled in the US, it is often the case that the original developer
is responsible for the tricky programming behind implementing the
new text. With no internal development of its own, and no support
from the original team, Enix America's decision to drop the title
certainly makes sense.
