Vib Ribbon 2 confirmed for development

[01.17.02] » A second chance for worldwide stardom?

Nana-On-Sha's quirky, addictive, musically-inspired platformer Vib Ribbon was one of the most sorely missed PSone games that never made it to the United States, but hope springs anew now that a sequel has been confirmed.

The 2002 Game Developers' Conference catalog lists among its presentations a talk by Nana-On-Sha founder Masaya Matsuura, the title of which is "The Game Design of Vib Ribbon 2." Such a slim description obviously gives no information on what the game will be like, but expect it to reprise the audio CD-based levels that made the first one so much fun. With a greater US market for oddball rhythm games forged by titles such as United Game Artists' recent Rez, the possibility may be greater that this one will see an American release. No Japanese release date or price is known at this time.
