[12.18.01] » No release day muggings currently scheduled.

According to an interview with financial news website Mainichi Interactive, Dragon Quest director Yuji Horii speculates that the eighth installment in Enix's flagship series will take at least 2-3 years to complete. A more specific date and platform are expected to be announced in Spring.

Horii also explained that while Enix is currently researching online possibilites, problems have arisen with the issue of connectivity. However, the director seemed very optimistic in terms of the future of online gaming and its growing popularity.

Finally, Horii touched very loosely on Enix's regard to Nintendo. While the director himself was intrigued by the connection between the GameCube and Game Boy Advance, nothing was announced for either platform.
