Rumors of a new Castlevania title begin to solidify
[10.28.01] » Konami finally knows when it has a good thing going.
Though Konami has admitted having a Castlevania title in the works for some time, it has recently been uncovered that the next title in the series would be a 2-D game for the PlayStation 2. After the critical and commercial successes of such 2-D Castlevania titles as Symphony of the Night and Circle of the Moon, as well as the failures of the two 3-D Nintendo 64 Castlevania games, Konami seems to have committed themselves to keeping the series in its 2-D roots.
Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi (or simply IGA, as he prefers to be called now) also recently re-confirmed that the still unnamed title will use people that worked on not only Symphony of the Night, but also the highly acclaimed Japanese-only TurboDuo title Akumajo Dracula X: Rondo of Blood (not to be confused with the sub-par Super Nintendo port). No other solid details, including a release date, have been revealed yet, but the GIA will keep you informed of details as they continue to solidify.
