Bleemcast Metal Gear Solid ready to ship
[10.23.01] » Solid Snake sneaks into retail and onto Dreamcast
next week.
After months of delays, technical difficulties,
and legal pressure from Sony, Bleem
inc. has finally finished work on the Metal Gear Solid version
of its PlayStation emulator for Dreamcast. As with the previously
released Gran Turismo 2, the MGS version of Bleemcast will allow gamers
to run North American or European versions of the game on their Dreamcasts,
with a few enhancements.
The biggest enhancement the emulator will offer
will be high-resolution graphics and texture filtering, bringing the
graphics of Kojima's classic close to the level of the PC version.
Bleemcast MGS will also offer VMU support for save games, vibration
with the DC's Jump Pack, and VGA compatibility. In addition, extra
PAL support has been built into the emulator; not only does the game
run without the usual "black bars" seen in PAL version,
but Europeans with a 60hz-capable television will be able to run the
NTSC version on their PAL systems.
The emulator will run both US and European versions
of the game, but support for the Japanese version of MGS and MGS Integral
could not be completed in time for shipping. The company does plan,
however, to release a separate version in Japan with support for these
versions of the game.
Bleem, inc. should begin shipping the emulator
to customers who preordered through the company's website later this
week, and it should arrive at retail early next week. In other Bleemcast
news, Tekken 3 for Bleemcast is also ready to ship along side MGS.
Each will retail for $9.99.
