Soul Reaver 2 game disc to feature extra content

   Soul Reaver 2, due for release in the U.S. at the end of October, will be one of the first PlayStation 2 games to use the DVD format to provide bonuses above and beyond the actual game. In addition to the game itself, the DVD-ROM will include 30 minutes of voice casting outtakes, 600 pieces of concept art, promotional materials, character renders, opening cinematics for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2, a trailer for the upcoming Blood Omen 2 and other Eidos games, developer credits and photos, and a collection of scripts and cinema sequences entitled, "History of Nosgoth: Dark Chronicle."

   Given how much content was infamously missing from the first Soul Reaver, the sequel's magnaminous extras seem particularly appropriate. It's encouraging to see a game developer take advantage of the DVD format to offer insight into the background, creation, and development of a game, and the GIA hopes that more developers follow Crystal Dynamics' lead.
