TGS: Silent Hill 2 Xbox hands-on impressions
[10.15.01] » Scary subtitle to frighten gamers from the moment they purchase the game.
Silent Hill 2 is a fantastic game on the PlayStation 2, and it looks to be a fantastic game on Xbox, too. In fact, to judge from the playable Fall 2001 Tokyo Game Show demo, it's the same fantastic game. The gameplay and sound were completely identical to the PlayStation 2 version, and the graphics were nearly indistinguishable. The Xbox version may have had slightly better graphics, but any enhancements were minor and unnoticeable. No new gameplay modes or elements could be found. It was like playing the PlayStation 2 version ... with an Xbox controller!
In fact, the only thing added to the Xbox version that we could find is a stylish new subtitle: "Saigo no Shi," or "The Last Poem." Spooky! Look for more details on the Xbox version of Silent Hill 2 closer to its release.
