TGS: Cozy Okada talks Shin Megami Tensei Online
[10.14.01] » Atlus's MegaTen director drops a few hints
on what to expect when the series goes online.
Atlus held a short press event at this weekend's
Tokyo Game Show to give Cozy Okada, director of the Shin Megami Tensei
series, the chance to talk about the franchise's first online outing,
which was announced in August for Xbox. Though no concrete details
were mentioned, Okada did state that the game would indeed have a
single player, off-line mode. Whether this will be a separate off-line
quest, or a single player version of the online game is unknown, but
Okada stated that it is the company's aim to create a game that can
be enjoyed in either mode -- though online play will be the focus
of the game.
Other than that, Okada only mentioned that the
game would feature all the signature MegaTen elements: conversations
and negotiations with monsters, as well as the ability to capture
them and fuse them into new creations. The game will also support
realtime voice communications between players. Okada stressed that
the game is only in the very early planning stages, so don't expect
more in-depth details for quite a while.
