Spaceworld: Nintendo reorganizes North American GameCube launch

[08.23.01] » System's debut pushed back two weeks; launch titles change.

Nintendo of America today confirmed that the North American launch of the GameCube has been pushed back from November 5th to November 18th, putting the system a solid two weeks behind the Xbox. Several games have also changed U.S. release dates. While Wave Race: Blue Storm and Luigi's Mansion remain launch titles, Eternal Darkness and Super Smash Brothers Melee have been delayed until December 3rd. Pikmin, on the other hand, has moved up from its December North American release date to become a launch title. Animal Forest Plus has dropped off Nintendo of America's release list entirely and will not be available in English until 2002.

Nintendo also confirmed rumors that the GameCube will be available in multiple colors at launch, though in a slightly different form than what was originally reported. The console itself will ship in Indigo and Jet Black colors; no Spice Orange system will be initially available. However, four different controller colors will be released: Indigo, "Indigo/Transparent configuration," Jet Black, and Spice Orange.
