GIA introduces new features, remembers to update old ones

[08.09.01] » Game credits, European release dates on the way; 11 remakes and massive online gaming network "still in the works," says Fritz Fraundorf.

Ever wanted to know exactly who was behind your favorite games - and what other titles they'd worked on? The GIA is pleased to introduce a radical new feature: game credit listings. To help give more recognition to game creators and settle disputes over the origins of certain titles, we'll be crediting game developers the way they should have been credited long ago. Key staff members will be listed directly on the preview/review/retrospective pages with full credit listings, where available, on a separate page. Game credit updates and a complete credits directory will be available in Special Ops. This project is an on-going one - we'll be continue to add and update credits as we cull them from game manuals, news releases, and endings.

The GIA congratulates publishers Conspiracy, Crave, Eidos, Enix, Konami, Lucas Arts, Sony, Square, and UbiSoft for taking the time to credit game developers in their instruction manuals. As for the rest of you guys - now would be a great time to start! (Additional submissions of credit information are always welcome at fritz@thegia.com.)

Clever readers may note that the credit listings would be a lot cooler if you could click on a person's name to view all the games she/he has worked on. Rest assured that this feature is in the works, though we're currently unable to give any estimate on when it will be available.

By overwhelming popular demand, we'll also be introducing long-overdue European release dates to individual game pages. Look for these dates to appear across the site over the course of the week.

Finally, we've dusted off the staff roster and past staffers page to bring them up to date.

The GIA would like to thank its readers for their continued support of the site. Over the past few months, our readership has expanded tremendously, and we're taking this chance to remind you that it's because of your continued interest that we're where we are today. But you can stop sending us files to have our advice. Really.
