Phantasy Star Online ver. 2 to support broadband
[07.07.01] » PSO sequel to include support for Sega's Broadband
Adapter.
When Phantasy Star Online was released in the US,
the Japanese version's support for Sega's Broadband Adapter was removed,
leaving those with high-bandwidth connections out of the game. It
seems Sega is attempting to appeal to an wider audience for the pay-to-play
sequel -- IGNDC reports
that the upcoming American version of PSO v.2 will include the same
support for the BBA featured in the Japanese game. Unfortunately,
like previously released BBA-compatible games, PSO v.2 will not be
compatible with all network connections. Players using PPPoE (Point
to Point Protocol over Ethernet) will not be able to use the BBA.
A more troubling problem may be the fact that Sega
is no longer offering the Adapter for sale through its website and
has no current plans to release more to the US. PSO fans with high-speed
connections may have to resort to importing, or Ebay, to track one
down.
