Japanese MGS2 release delayed to December

[07.05.01] » One of the PS2's biggest titles to arrive in Japan a month after the US release.

When Konami announced a US date for Metal Gear Solid 2, November 13, it was assumed that the Japanese release would happen simultaneously, or even some time earlier. Unfortunately for Japanese gamers, Konami announced today that MGS2 would not be released in its home country until December.

No exact date has been revealed, so the delay could only be a matter of weeks. This marks the first time that such a high-profile Japanese title will be making its debut outside of its home country, but the move shouldn't be too much of a surprise for those following the game. Konami first unveiled the game in the US, at last years E3, and Kojima himself has often stated that the series has gotten a much more enthusiastic reception in America.

According to Konami, the change was made to time the release of the game with the biggest holiday shopping seasons in each country.
