Nintendo announces Japanese GameCube release schedule

   Nintendo of Japan today announced its first- and second-party release GameCube schedule for 2001. Silicon Knights' Eternal Darkness has been confirmed for Japanese release; so has the GameCube port of Animal Forest, which was already released on the Nintendo 64 in Japan. Both these titles will arrive in North America before Japan; however, Shigeru Miyamoto's Pikmin will appear in Japan at least a month in advance of its planned December English release.

   The full schedule:

  • Luigi's Mansion: September 14th (launch title)
  • Wave Race: Blue Storm: September 14th (launch title)
  • Pikmin: October 26th
  • Dairantou Smash Brothers DX: November
  • Eternal Darkness: December
  • Animal Forest GameCube: December

   All the titles will retail for 6800 yen ($55 US).
