E3: Microsoft announces Xbox release info

   At their press conference at E3 this morning, Microsoft announced that they would be releasing the Xbox in North America on November 8, 2001, for a suggested retail price of US$299.99. In an attempt to one-up Sony, they also announced that they would ship between 600,000-800,000 units of the hardware, well above what Sony was able to bring to the market for its Playstation 2 launch. While no specific launch titles were announced in the first 20 minutes of the press conference, Munch's Oddysee and Halo were shown, and between 15 and 20 games were announced to be available at launch.
