Sony partners with AOL for PlayStation 2 enhancements
[05.15.01] » PS2 starts on the road to netplay.
Out to oppose Microsoft in every arena, AOL has hitched their wagon to Sony's PlayStation 2 in an attempt to compete in the console industry. AOL will deliver PS2 versions of their instant-messaging and browser software, in order to "deliver the AOL experience to consumers on the PlayStation 2 platform."
Sony also announced their intention to produce a broadband adapter for the PS2. This, along with the AOL-related features, will be incorporated into development kits soon, so it can be worked into online games -- it might not be too long before we see Sony properties such as Everquest on the PlayStation 2.
