More details on Sega's Xbox games

[03.29.01] » Jet Grind Radio, Panzer Dragoon sequels among the eleven titles.

Sega announced four of the eleven games it plans to release for the Xbox in Japan. A Jet Grind Radio (Jet Set Radio in Japan) sequel, tentatively titled "Jet Grind Radio Future" is in the works, as is a new Panzer Dragoon game. There's no word yet on whether the Panzer Dragoon game will adopt the RPG play mechanics of the series' last installment, Panzer Dragoon Saga, or return to its shooter roots.

Also in the works for Microsoft's console are Sega GT 2 and shooter Gun Valkyrie.

"We're trying to communicate to people the depth and breadth of our development commitment from Japan,'' said Robbie Bach, a Microsoft senior vice president.

""We believe that Microsoft will be very successful with Xbox," said Peter Moore, president and chief operating officer of Sega of America. "Our world-renowned development studios have been very impressed with the Xbox hardware and they are excited to bring new gaming experiences to consumers by utilizing the platform's power. We will work with them to deliver the best content possible to gamers."

Moore also confirmed that Sega has agreed to release some games only for the Xbox for a limited time. At least some of the eleven titles, though likely not all, are presumably among these games.

The remaining seven games will apparently be announced at a later date.
