TGS: Level Five discusses Dark Cloud's future

[03.29.01] » Upgrades for U.S. version, sequel planned.

At a pre-Tokyo Game Show press event, Sony announced that developer Level Five was upgrading Dark Cloud for its forthcoming North American release, reports GameSpot VG. As the PlayStation 2 action RPG met with only a lukewarm reception in Japan, Level Five is aiming to bolster its chances in North America with a few tune-ups.

The North American version will feature about 30 percent more content, including a new 100-floor dungeon with a new boss -- the Black Knight Pendragon -- at the end. The hero will be also able to perform combo attacks. More general upgrades include additional items, monsters, and even more fish to catch.

Level Five also confirmed that a sequel to Dark Cloud is in the works. No specifics were announced other than the new game would feature "considerably enhanced" graphics.

Dark Cloud is due out this June in North America.
