Dragon Quest VII still coming to America

[03.27.01] » Enix's US website gives a not-so-subtle hint at the game's imminent arrival.

Enix Japan may have already confirmed the company's flagship title for American release, but the US branch has remained silent on the matter of Dragon Quest VII's localization -- until now.

As part of an update to the company's US website, Enix has added a new flash animation to greet visitors. The brief movie offers a quick glimpse at the mysterious world map seen below. Fan's of the series who have been following the latest game may recognize the nearly-empty atlas as the initial state of Dragon Quest VII's worldmap. The map's appearance can only be taken as an admission that the localization of the game is well under way.

Though there has been very little real doubt as to whether Dragon Quest VII would make its way stateside -- the release of the record-setting title was likely one of the main motivating factors in reestablishing a US office -- it's good to see the company finally coming clean about its worst kept secret. Look for more information to surface at this year's E3 in May.
