Monkey Island comes to the PlayStation 2
[03.16.01] » LucasArts' long-running adventure series comes--Look! Behind you! A three-headed monkey!
Fans of PC games are probably already familiar
with LucasArts' humorous brand of adventure games. A select few of
these, such as Maniac Mansion
and the first Monkey Island, made the jump to consoles in the past,
but recently the company's console titles have consisted mostly of
licensed Star Wars games. Today, however, LucasArts announced they
will finally be bringing their flagship adventure franchise back to
consoles with Escape from Monkey Island for PlayStation 2.
The fourth game in the series, Escape from Monkey
Island was released for PC last fall. The game details series hero
Guybrush Threewood's struggle to win back Melee Island when the current
Governor, and his new bride, Elaine Marley-Threepwood is is mistakenly
disclared dead. Those unfamiliar with the series long history should
expect the trademark excellent (but illogical) puzzles and awful (but
excellent) puns.
"For the past 10 years owners of PC's have solely
been able to enjoy Monkey Island, one of LucasArts' premier brands,"
says Tom Byron, director of product marketing for LucasArts. "Escape
from Monkey Island gives PlayStation 2 players the chance to be captured
by this clever and comical graphic adventure series."
Escape from Monkey Island is set for a spring release;
look for a full preview from the GIA soon.
