Sega to release Phantasy Star Online add-on disc

   GameSpot VG today confirmed that a Phantasy Star Online expansion ("append") disc will be released in Japan. Sega's Yu Suzuki announced the add-on in a recent interview with Famitsu magazine. Among other features, the disc will fix the "black screen of death" bug that erases players' items.

   The disc may include more than just bug fixes, however. Yesterday, IGNDC reported that its "ninjas within the wall of Sega" had also reported on the existence of a PSO append disc. According to IGN, the disc will prevent players from using a GameShark to enhance their characters. The North American release of the disc will also enable the missing broadband compatibility. As the disc itself has now been confirmed, it's likely that these features are indeed part of the package.
