GameCube Metroid not a first-person shooter
[02.24.01] » Sources describe title as "adventure"; third-person areas also to be included.
When the word first broke that Retro Studios' GameCube Metroid title will use a first person perspective, many fans were shocked. Quite a few worried that the game would end up a first-person shooter bearing little in common with the rest of the series.
But new details uncovered by IGNCube indicate that the title may not be what many are expecting. According to IGN's sources, Metroid is more of a "first person adventure" that retains the traditional Metroid gameplay formula, complete with upgradable armor and rolling abilities. The game apparently won't be all first-person, either; a third-person point of view will be used during some special situations.
The site also reports that the eagerly-anticipated title will make its debut at the Electronics Entertainment Expo this May.
