Sega plans Phantasy Star Online sequel

[02.14.01] » A follow-up to Sega's recently released online RPG is on the way, and it'll appear on the Dreamcast.

Sega's end to Dreamcast hardware production certainly hasn't meant the end of game development for the system. In an interview with GameWeek magazine, Charles Bellfield, Sega of America's vice president of marketing and corporate communications, states that a sequel to Phantasy Star Online is being developed. Bellfield states that Sega is "definitely planning to keep the Phantasy Star Online franchise continuing, absolutely" with a Dreamcast-based sequel.

Sega of America's official representative also acknowledged the possibility of a PSO sequel, explaing that "a sequel to Phantasy Star Online is being considered, but no further details have been announced at this time."

The original Phantasy Star Online was released on January 30th for the Dreamcast; more on the game can be found in the GIA's recent review.
