ToeJam & Earl III confirmed for Dreamcast

[01.24.00] » Funkotron's dynamite duo to return this fall.

Among numerous new titles confirmed by Sega of Japan is a long-waited new installment of the Genesis' ToeJam & Earl series. Long reported to be in development, ToeJam & Earl III now carries an official fall 2001 release date in North America and a generic 2001 date in Japan.

The series' developers, ToeJam & Earl Productions, had additional words to say about ToeJam & Earl III. The new game will be "much more like" the original, free-roaming ToeJam & Earl than its side-scrolling sequel. "Certainly, TJ&E I was the one we played the most," the developers state. ToeJam & Earl III will also include an Internet-based multiplayer mode.

ToeJam & Earl Productions plan to unveil ToeJam & Earl III at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in May. However the company added that "perhaps we'll post a few [screenshots] earlier than that."
