Hundred Swords not broadband compatible

[01.20.00] » Sega's online strategy game to support dial-up only, but without fees.

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Phantasy Star Online will not "officially" support Sega's Broadband Adapter, more bad new for has arrived for gamers with high-speed connections: Smilebit's upcoming online strategy title Hundred Swords will not be supporting the adapter at all. The developers cited a lack of WinCE drivers for the new adapter as the cause for restricting the game's online play to dial-up only.

Fortunately, there is some good news. Unlike Phantasy Star Online, which required Japanese players to pay a monthly fee, Hundred Swords online play will be free of charge. Hundred Swords is set for release in Japan next month, with no US date announced. The game will likely be more-import friendly than previous Japanese games with online play, however. Smilebit specifically mentioned that the game wouldn't require a special account, meaning US importers will probably be able to play online from the states.
