New information on Kessen sequels

[01.17.01] » Koei sets Japanese release date for Kessen II, denies Xbox rumors for Kessen III.

Koei has announced that Kessen II for the PlayStation 2 will be released this March in Japan. Gamers will have the option to purchase the game as a stand-alone for 7800 yen (about US$66) or in a super value set costing 12800 yen (about US$109), which will include Kessen and Kessen II. Kessen II will be loosely based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series and will contain fictional elements such as the use of magic and free flight. This is quite a change from Kessen, which was set in feudal Japan and followed the Azuchi-Momoyama and Edo periods in the 15th and 16th centuries.

The rumors that Kessen III was slated for release on the Xbox were also laid to rest. The title had been on the list of upcoming Xbox software titles, but Koei has stated that it currently plans to release the title only on the PlayStation 2. No further details have been released on the title other than that the game will be network compatible.
